     "For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged".  When I painted this, I painted while in the "zone".  The means connected and intuitively painting.  I had no preconceived idea of what I was going to do, so I just used some colors that I liked and a little texture.  I've looked at it wondering...what in the world?  Tonight, I remarked that it looked like Judgement Day.  Then, I remembered this scripture.  I'm sure there are some things I need to judge myself on.  I'm going to meditate on that and take care of it.  What about you?  Is there something in your life that you need to turn from?  This is Day 5 of the 30 paintings in Thirty Days.   I love daily painting.  I wish I were making a living at it, because I love it very much.     Yes....I know I got the mat crooked! :)

     I've been working on this painting for over a year.  Layer upon layer of oil and cold wax, waiting for it to dry in order to add and subtract another layer upon layer.  It truly has transformed over the year.  It just rings so true with the transformation that each of us goes through when we receive Jesus as our Lord.  We become a new creation, and look forward to the transformation that will come in eternal life.

     This is the last of the 30 in 30 challenge.  I'm bummed about it.  I just got in the groove, it seems like.  I think I might just continue on, challenging myself.  This "Herbata" is a cup full of polish tea.  I've never been to Poland, nor have i ever had their tea.  But I do like the word.  Some languages just have a nice rhythm to them.  I especially like the color combo in this painting.  The collaged stamp sets it off.  I think will also go into my card set.

     This one was so much fun!  It's number 29 of my 30 in 30.  I absolutely love it!  I combines different techniques along with collage.  I meant it as a gift, but not sure I want to part with it.  I think I'll have some cards made for sure.  I just love the texture and the contrast.  Love, love, love this one.

     This is number TEN of the 30 in 30 challenge.  I couldn't wait to get this done!  I've wanted to do some real experimenting and this was it!  I collaged hand painted papers and book pages onto this watercolor paper.   I added moulding paste and stencils.  I wasn't sure I could make anything out of it, but pressed on through.  I discovered if I wanted my charcoal to adhere and yet be erasable, I needed to coat the whole thing in acrylic medium to begin with.  I proceeded using my grandson, Tristan Moya as my model.  He just loved taking my Ugandan wrap to make a head wrap.  I got lots of photo reference shots and will probably do more on this line.  This was really fun, because I didn't worry about making anything picture perfect.  I enjoyed the play on light and dark as wells as the hues used.  I even pulled in my red acetate overlay to check my values and make sure that I had a good variety.  Yay.  Lessons learned, coming into play.  I haven't gotten his feedback, but in real life it looks great.  More of these to come, I'm sure!

     This was definitely more than a day in the making, but the last layer was applied in a day.  This is my number 4 of the Leslie Saeta 30 Day Challenge.  I wish the photo would do it justice. The top photo shows the details in a closer up view.   I used collage layers and layers of acrylic skins on top of under paintings. That was followed with acrylic pourings which contained shimmering powdered pigments, followed by gold leaf, and more layers of pouring.  The depth and color translucency is really beautiful.  Mark 4:35-41 tells us that Jesus calms the storm.  There have been many storms in my life, in which I thought I was going to be overtaken.  Some of them almost did take me out.That was when I knew "of" Jesus.  Now that I "know" Him, I've learned that he will either calm the storm for me, or sometimes calm me in the storm.  The past couple of years have been one of those storms in which he has calmed me.  I've felt like that golden piece in this painting...right there in the middle of it; yet not overtaken, and even in peace through most of it.  In that peace, I can minister to the rest of my family.  It's only because of Jesus.  My question for you today is, do you know of Him?  Or do you know Him?  Does he know you?  Is that storm about to take you out?  Let Him calm it for you!  Amen.  

Quest

Progress on my first painting in this "Quest" series. I'm on a quest to narrow down, think about, and hopefully come to some kind of conclusion as I who I am as an artist. I played with this outside in all the wind, as I kept my hubby company. Or maybe he kept me company. I have been wanting to do some art journaling and I love the work that Kelly Rae Roberts does. Since I am trying to figure some things out, I decided I'd just take the opportunity to play in this style for a bit. I used an old canvas that had already been painted over twice. I used "YES" paste to collage with, and discovered that acrylics don't stick to it well at all. Watercolor will, but acrylics will not. I used some symbolism in this piece and thought about all the things that I wanted to "release", I haven't answered my original question yet, at least on paper. I think I know deep down, but I'm going to give myself some time to contemplate and play. This whimsical approach was fun, and a change from my tight watercolors I've been doing lately. I'll probably add to it before calling it good.

#2 of "Sing a New Song Unto Him" Series

#2 of my "Sing a New Song Unto Him" series.  Oil and Cold Wax on Cradled Wood, 12x12".  There is something that I really like about this....the depth of color, the layers, the texture, the depth of the meaning of the scripture:  Psalm 144:9   I will sing a new song to you, my God; on the ten-stringed lyre I will make music to you.

Is it time to sing a new song?  Is it time to draw a line in the sand, to jump off of the fence, to really live?  The time is now.

Got the eyes and lips in for initial washes.  Anxious to decide on the background.  Once I do the initial wash on that, I will be able to tell more about the other.  So far, I'm liking the way the newspaper is bleeding through to provide some shadow and depth.  Still don't know about the baton.  I think I will continue with it, and at the end, if it doesn't look right, I'll paint over it.  I love doing these.  This one is 22"x20" on canvas.  Very mixed media.

     I've gotten the first layer of handmade collage papers down, and the initial wash of gauche for the skin tones.  Trying to decide whether the baton is going to be a distraction.

Lovely Couple

This is a water media mixed media half sheet on paper collage.  It was a commission for this couple, and looks just like them.  I love doing these things.

Eternity

Resurrection Power

Wax and Oils; 12x12 on wood.  Inspired from a study on the resurrection power of Jesus Christ, dead bones, and RECOVERY, I did this mixed media art piece.  Zoom in and look closely to enjoy.

All of My Worship

This is a paper collage on canvas 11x14. I have a heart for worship dance, so decided to create this piece. The jewels reminded me of orbs that some people have seen . I wrote scripture and declarations all around the dancer. It was fun. It's for sale with proceeds going towards missions.

Holy Cow!

Holy Cow! Paper Collage done from a photo of Dad's Longhorn cow. What fun, this was! I took this workshop from Suzi Pal. It wasn't my first collage or paper painting, but was my first to not add lots of mixed media with it. It was really fun. My Dad will get this for Father's Day. Hope he appreciates the bright colors and jewelry. This is 11x14 on Gallery Wrapped Canvas.

#9 in my Java Series. This one is done with collage papers on 8 x 10 canvas board and lots of texture in the background. I added the clay cross as an accent piece. Jesus in the morning is good!

Java #8

This beautiful 11x14 in my Java Series, is less textured than the rest. I used some manipulated collage papers, and some moulding paste for the textured rose. The cup is done in torn paper. The background is so beautiful, I couldn't bear to cover it up with texture. The steam swirls remind me of little worship dancers. That's just what I feel like doing after a good cup of joe in the mornings. I'm really pleased with this one. It was fun to do. Proceeds go towards Uganda mission sewing machine project. This one is not sold, yet.

I like Coffee and I like Tea

This is #4 in my Java series. Ok, I know it's not Java. But it's still beautiful and fitting to include in my Java series. It's texture and collage, using an assortment of papers, string, and other things for all of that background texture. I used acrylic and other mixed media. This was a blast to do!
