#34 Daily Painting

     This is our oldest Grandson, Tristan.  He's quite an amazing guy, in love with the Lord, and his PeePaw.  He loves to come and stay, and would stay forever, if given the chance.  He cracks me up, with his alarm setting in order to get up early and not miss a single second.  He makes every step his PeePaw makes and some of mine.  He loves to hunt, and is a darn good shot.  He has some really good God planted gifts inside of him.  He's going to grow up to be an awesome power house in the kingdom of God.

     This is my #5 in the 30 day challenge.  I painted it a couple of weeks ago as a Christmas commission.  My holiday life is not quite over, therefore, getting to my brushes has not happened yet.  My family members will all be gone after tomorrow and our lives will hurriedly get back into a groove.  My studio is warming up right now, calling my name.  Perhaps I can sneak in there and get really started on this challenge.  I always feel like I'm cheating when I'm not really painting daily.  It is what it is right now, and this is Emmie.  I enjoyed doing her and really like the way the ground turned out.  I bet she's really a fun little companion.

     William.  To my sweet William, the "One who is a resolute protector", according to name meaning:  It was such a funny day not so long ago, when this hat became the center of play, the center of laughter, and giggles.  The eyes around that table glimmered in gladness, but have now  known the shadow of sadness.  You've been swept away, down a very long road.    The road that's  too long for weekend sleep overs, and those midweek stays.  The quick visits, the unexpected run overs are now out of the question.   We find ourselves making trades.   Instead of the tractor in the field, it's the tractor on the side walk.  Instead of the sandbox and chickens, it's way of city life.  For us,  the  trade off will be intercession instead of cookies,  declarations instead of snuggles,  and encouragement by phone instead of those weekly visits.   William, may the Lord keep you and  protect you. May the Comforter bring peace on both ends of that road. May you discover early in life your helmet of salvation.  May you learn to be a resolute protector of your heart.  May you learn to discern the voice that whispers rebellion and pride into your ear.  May you learn even better the voice of the Father; the One that Protects, Provides, and tells you who you really are.  May you always trade truth for the lie.   Scripture says that the Lord is a shield about me, and about you.   He hears our voices when we cry, and he answers us from His holy mountain.  He causes us to lay down and sleep and sustains us.  Psalms 3:  3-5.  Our hearts are solidified with the joy of the Lord, and we're keeping the hat ready for  "Just Another Fit".

     As you know, this was the second version of this beautiful woman, done in watercolor.  After experiencing much frustration with a new paper that just absorbed the color and would not move, I went back to my favorite, Arches, 140#.  This was pure joy.  As I painted I reflected on so many good times as we grew up together.  I thought about the summer swims, the times together at the ranch, all the many, many hours of laughter that we had!  There is one thing about this girl:  she has an ability to see the funny in any situation and keeps you in stitches all the time.  I also look back at the gaping holes in the years that we were disconnected for reason of life happening all around us.  I am thrilled to be connected again, and thrilled that she's my cousin!
